If your console sounds like a jet engine, shuts off in the middle of a game or shows an overheating warning, heat is building up inside. Left alone, it can wear out the fan and stress the board. Level 2 Repair cleans and services overheating PS5 and Xbox consoles at 3114 Rotary Way in Burlington, for gamers from Oakville, Milton, Hamilton and the GTA.
Signs your console is overheating

The fan gets very loud a few minutes into a game
The console shuts off by itself or shows a temperature warning
Games stutter or freeze during long sessions
The vents feel very hot or you can see dust build-up
Why consoles overheat
Dust and pet hair clog the fan and heatsink over time, so hot air can't escape. Consoles in closed cabinets or on carpet have it worse. The thermal material between the chip and the heatsink can also degrade. On the PS5, that's liquid metal, which can shift or harden over time. There is more about that on our blog, but the fix is the same: open it up, clean it properly and refresh what needs refreshing.
What our overheating service includes
We open the console, clean the fan, heatsink and vents, check the fan for wear, and inspect the thermal material. Where it's needed, we replace the thermal paste or service the liquid metal. Then we run the console under a long game session to make sure temperatures and fan noise are back to normal.

Keep it cool afterwards

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to fix an overheating PS5 or Xbox? Our overheating service is $99 plus tax. If we find a failed fan or another fault, we'll quote it before doing any extra work.
Can you fix it the same day? In most cases, yes. Overheating services are usually same-day repairs.
Does the PS5 liquid metal need replacing? Not always. We inspect it and only service it if it has moved or degraded.
Will cleaning it myself work? Blowing out the vents helps a little, but most of the dust sits inside on the fan and heatsink, which means opening the console.
